Welcome BackAt last, I've rediscovered my blog (pathetic thing). |
What's New?What's my excuse this time?
Ah yes - a complete re-write of www.halfadot.com to full CSS, WAI level AAA compliance, etc.etc.
And a small site for the folks at R-n-T - www.rnttrailerrepair.com - that had to look 'manly'. My guess at 'manly' met with the client's approval, so all was well with that site.
And a site for an artist/painter in Montana - www.bethloftin.com. |
I can't believe it!I knew it was a long time since I'd posted anything here - and even longer since I posted something useful .... but it's hard to believe it's been so long.
Well, I do have some excuses. I decided it was time to do a complete makeover of digitalmidget.com and take it back to it's more-or-less original purpose and use it as a test-bed for stuff. Along the way, a series of php scripts got written to add to what had been there ... and the redesign was accomplished using a table-less layout: nothing but CSS. So if you think reading this is boring ... go visit digitalmidget.com and see the brilliant new design and the brilliant new set of free and paid scripts that now exist there.
As if the self-inflicted stuff wasn't enough, last year also had me busy with a handful of small sites for new clients. All interesting, all fully paid for as well! |
Fixed-price plan ...... but make sure you read the fine print! Self-explanatory, but here's the letter I sent to MXEnergy after I finished with one of their telemarketers.
Hello:
I live in Toronto, Ontario and I was just called by one of your telemarketers who was offering the fixed rate plan at 26.7 cents/cu.metre for a 3-year period.
I asked several times, quite carefully, whether there were any other costs or escalation and on each occasion I was told that the cost of gas would be fixed at 26.7 cents. Now, your web site is very clear about costs when the 'contract' page is viewed:
"Your Guaranteed Price is included in your internet enrollment form and is guaranteed either not to change during the Term or not to increase by more than the escalator indicated at the end of the billing cycle indicated."
Seems to me that your telemarketer was unaware of this published fact, or was unwilling to tell me even after I asked three times, insisting that the price would remain at 26.7 cents for the full three years.
I'm not impressed with a company that misleads prospective customers, and I'm quite sure you'll want to correct the marketing pitch to reflect reality.
Feel free to respond to this message, or ignore it altogether.
Maybe I'll get a reply, maybe I won't.
And you're right - their web site sucks. Imagine a huge energy company with Amazon banners on their site. |
