Design - whatever that means

Everybody has their own ideas about solving the puzzle of a 'great' design. The only rule is that there are no rules. Well, not quite. The rules are that the design really should work in all recent versions of all (both) major web browsers. Other than that, personal web sites should be exactly that - personal expressions and how you choose to fit all the pieces together.

This design is just what I felt like doing at the time I did it, and is mostly an excuse to try some new 'programming' techniques and features. In case you're interested, this site uses php with a touch of javascript and some MySQL database stuff. Cool, eh? And if you're looking for the 'old' version of my site - it's still here.

Does a great design mean a long download? No - here's a link to a 'web site' that is less than five kilobytes - with all the 'bells and whistles', including images!! And if you're wondering what might be done to develop a 'speedy' web site, try my help site - Size & Speed Matter.

So much for what I think about web design - and if you don't like the colours, you can change the theme of these pages (links at top of page) to see if something else is more appealing.
