Religion is the idol of the mob; it adores everything it does not understand - Frederick the Great

Credits

What you see is is 'all my own work' - with a little help. This seems like a reasonable place to tell you where the scripts came from - particularly because the credits (in the scripts) never appear once the php scripts are parsed. Here goes:

The themes came directly from here. There isn't any obvious attribution there, but as the same files appear at www.yelvington.com/howtheme.php3, I'm going to assume that Steve Yelvington is the source of the skins information and files I used.

The guestbook - was the very first thing I ever did with php/MySQL. Much to my amazement it worked. There's still some stupid 'refresh' glitch in it (that I caused when I 'improved' it) which I need to resolve, but it works. You can get your own here, courtesy of Dmitri Ivon.

The blog - was a very tedious problem. I tried 'blogger' - failed miserably. I tried 'greymatter' - worked reasonably well ... and then support evaporated completely (so I never did figure out why it wouldn't work the way I wanted). I gave up. And then, several months later, I found Basic Blog - and it works! Thanks to Ed Swindelles, you can now read the official web log. Remember, don't blame Ed for the content :)

The photo gallery - until recently, it wasn't here. I tried lots of sites looking for exactly the scripting I needed. Not unexpectedly, no such thing ... so I wrote my own version and I take the credit/blame accordingly.

And a new addition in 2004 is the visitor comments system added to the 'rainy day stories'. This was something I developed for the guys at hockeybrains.com, and then extended further with some very nice bells and whistles (if I may say so myself). Go ahead and add a comment - just remember that your IP address and the GMT date/time you posted are added to the database [we have ways of dealing with you]. Write me a really nice e-mail and I'll tell you where you can download the complete script, ready to run on your php/MySQL enabled site.

Of course, none of this php and MySQL stuff might never have happened if it hadn't been for the spectacularly simple phpdev package available from FirePages - thanks, Simon.

A few neat scripts don't tell the whole story behind the credit deserved for this project (regardless of how merit-worthy you think it is). People were involved as well and deserve credit. To name just a few might debase the rest. You know who you are - hope that's credit enough for pushing me, and pushing me, and pushing me on my journey to mastering the black arts. If you really need to know who helped, then look here and see if you can figure it out for yourself.
